Edwina Pickens Johnson

Edwina (Pickens) Johnson, age 77, of Carpenters Corners Rd., Clarks Mills passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Sunday, November 17, 2024, following a brief illness.

She was born on September 6, 1947 in Greenville to Edward T. and Myrtle R. (Uber) Pickens. Edwina was a 1965 graduate of Greenville High School and was employed for many years as High School Secretary at Commodore Perry School District.

Edwina attended Oak Grove Church, Mercer. She truly loved and was devoted to her husband and son as well as her siblings and was a true and forever friend to many. Edwina always had a smile for everyone and was very sociable. She even had the ability to carry on long conversations with those she had just met. Edwina was very active and enjoyed attending concerts.

On April 28, 1967, she married Jerry Johnson; he survives at home.

Also surviving are her son Michael (Tammy) Johnson of Stoneboro; her sisters, Nancy Puggie of Phoenix, AZ and Carole Duda of Greenville; her brother, Jack (Colleen) Pickens of Pulaski; four sisters-in law: Joanie Pickens of Greenville, Lois Ann (Jay) Maxwell of Loganville, GA, Linda Hoover of Meadville, and Melissa Blocksom of Augusta, GA; a brother-in-law, Paul Deyoub of Sherwood, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

Edwina is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sandy Jacks; a brother, Edward “Tracel” Pickens, Jr.; and brothers-in law Junior Jacks, Loren Puggie, and Tom Duda. 

The family wishes to express their gratitude for all those involved in Edwina’s care.

Services:

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, 11/21/24, in Oak Grove Church, 16 Oak Grove Rd., Mercer, with Rev. Randy Ritchey, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received from 4-7 PM on Wed., 11/20/24, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville and from 9:45-10:45 AM on Thurs., 11/21/24, in Oak Grove Church. Burial will be in Findley Cemetery, Mercer. Memorial Contributions may be made to Oak Grove Church, 16 Oak Grove Rd. Mercer, PA 16137.
