Elizabeth A. Leary, age 84, of Brentwood Dr., Pymatuning Twp., Greenville and formally of Mercer and Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday morning, July 14, 2021 in UPMC Shenango Valley.
She was born in Mercer on May 28, 1937 to Albert L. and Helen M. (Thompson) Urey. Betty was a 1955 graduate of Mercer High School and in 1984 she received her LPN Certification from Mercer County Vo-Tech. She had been employed as an LPN at White Cliff Nursing Home, retiring in 1997. She had previously been employed at Bashline Hospital in Grove City and Bell Telephone in Mercer. Betty was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church. She and her late husband enjoyed riding their G.W. Trike Motorcycle on many trips throughout the U.S. and Canada and were members of G.W.R.R.A Chapter N. Betty bowled for many years and was a member of the Fire Cracker League in Greenville. She was a talented artist and painted several landscape paintings and was quoted as saying “I have the greatest family I could ever hope to have”.
On June 6, 1980, she married Jerald R. Leary, he preceded her in death on March 13, 2017. Betty is survived by two daughters, Susan K. Pollard and her husband Russ of Milford, OH, and Carol A. White and her fiance Paul McDonald of Mars, PA; a son, Thomas A. Kirby and his wife Anita of Greenville; two sisters, Margaret L. Giebner and Sandra L. Muha both of Hermitage; five brothers, Albert L. Urey of Vancouver, WA, James T. Urey of Reno, NV, Joseph N. Urey and his wife Denise of Mercer, Gerald L. Urey and his wife Lindy of Mercer and Jeffrey A. Urey and his wife Karen of Erie; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter Kathy Ann Kirby, a sister, Suzanne Balko, three brothers, Wayne L. Urey, Gary L. Urey and Daniel W. Urey and a nephew Wayne Urey, Jr.
Per Betty's wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Inurnment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.
