Ethel E. "Betty" Koren

Ethel E. “Betty” Koren of St. Petersburg, PA and formerly of Gibson Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Friday morning, January 24, 2025, in Laurel Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Brookville.

She was born December 30, 1947 in New Castle to Elmer E. and Myrtle B. (Shropshire) Wareham and was a 1965 graduate of Greenville High School. Betty retired in 2013 as the Personnel Manager of Greenville Walmart following 22 years of employment and previously had been employed at Carlisle’s Department Store in Meadville.

She was a social member of VFW Post #3374, Greenville, and a member of the women’s auxiliary at Greenville Moose Family Center #276. Betty was an avid golfer and had played pool in the American Poolplayers Association for 10 years. She especially enjoyed watching old Westerns and loved being involved with her grandchildren.

On July 29, 1972, Betty married John R. Koren; he passed away November 4, 2018.

She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. (R. J.) Feicht, of St. Petersburg; a son, John E. “Jack” Koren, of Greenville; two sisters, Linda (Chuck) Packard of Greenville and Jane Newcome of Columbiana, OH; and two grandchildren, Brady (Annah Burke) Feicht and Abigail Feicht.

In addition to her husband, Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nancy Wareham; and three brothers: James Wareham, Elmer E. Wareham, Jr., and John Wareham (infant).

Services:

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, 1/30/25, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville with Rev. Michael Marshall, Pastor of North Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, 1/29/25. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Greenville.
