Gary L. “Pete” Mowry, age 73, of S. 5th St., Jamestown, passed away surrounded by his family Thursday morning, April 25, 2024 in his residence. He was born in Greenville on October 19, 1950 to Norman “Dutch” and Isabel (Whitlatch) Mowry.
Pete was a 1969 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was employed as a welder for 31 years at the former Trinity Plant and then worked for 20 years as a stockman at the Greenville Walmart. Pete was a member of Stateline Church in Jamestown and the Greenville VFW Post #3374. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Pirates and Steeler fan and enjoyed bowling, watching pro wrestling and traveling to many places.
On January 19, 1980 he married the former Helen G. (Moats), she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Beth King and her husband Ken, Alicia Mowry and Brittany Mowry, all of Jamestown; a sister, Nancy Stanley and her husband Dick of Greenville; three sisters-in-law, Priscilla Mowry of Pittsburgh, Vivian Mowry of Florida and Bess Mowry of Transfer and one grandchild, Codie King. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Fay Frantz and three brothers, Jackson Mowry, Tom Mowry and Duane Mowry.
