George W. Beil, Sr.

George W. Beil, Sr., age 97, of Country Club Lane, Hempfield Twp., Greenville passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 24, 2024, in UPMC Jameson.

He was born March 22, 1927 in Greenville to Samuel and Edith (Walker) Beil. George was a graduate of Penn High School and had attended Thiel College. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. George retired as the owner/operator of Reynold’s True Value Hardware store and previously owned and operated the Ashland gas station in Greenville.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Greenville, Reynolds VFW Post #7599, and Greenville BPOE #145. George had served on the board of directors of the former McDowell Bank, and as an avid golfer, he was a member of the former Greenville Country Club. George was especially fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On September 5, 1948, he married Martha Yvonne “Vonnie” Callahan. She passed away December 1, 2017.

George is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Raymond) Haines of Warren, PA; two daughters-in-law: Nancy Beil of Indiana, PA and Debra Beil of Missoula, MT; two grandsons: Gregory R. (Melanie) Haines and Erik D. (Elizabeth) Beil; and four great-grandchildren: Artie and Eddie Haines and Anders and Nora Beil.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons: George W. Beil, Jr. and Clifford F. Beil; two sisters: Mary Ellen and Delora; and a brother, Arthur.

Services:

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, 12/28/24, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville, with Rev. John Coleman, Pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Greenville, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on 12/28/24 from 10 AM until time of service. Burial will be in Delaware Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
