Gerald D. “Jerry” Smith, age 64, of Clinton St., Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, July 27, 2022 in his residence.

He was born in Greenville on May 6, 1958 to Stanley E. and Mary K. (Llewellyn) Smith. Jerry was a 1976 graduate of Reynolds High School, obtained his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Penn State Shenango in 1982, and later received his certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Mercer County Career Center. He had been currently employed for over the past fifteen years as an L.P.N. at Avalon Springs in Mercer. Jerry had previously been employed in the Human Resources Department of Combined Tactical and had also worked in the Payroll Department at St. Paul’s.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, where he had been employed at one time as the Sexton of the church. Jerry was an avid reader and also enjoyed cycling and cooking. His true passion was sailing which he did for many years on Pymatuning Lake and the Chesapeake Bay.

He is survived by his two brothers, David W. Smith of Allentown, PA and Richard E. Smith of Greenville, three nieces, Tammy Smith-McConnor, Katie Smith-Bernard and Bethany Smith, a nephew, Steven Smith, two great nieces and five great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Frederick Smith, a niece, Heidi Smith and a sister-in-law, Deborah Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 Trinity Place, Greenville, PA 16125. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
