Gloria D. Spargo, age 93, of Rosedale Ave., Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, May 19, 2023, at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.

She was born in Youngstown, OH on July 16, 1929, to Hugh C. and Betty J. (Winters) Bannister. Gloria graduated from Penn High school in 1947 and received her B.S. in Library Science and Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University In 1980. She worked as an elementary Teacher and librarian for the Greenville School District for twenty-eight years, retiring in 2000. In addition, she was employed as an Assistant librarian and bookkeeper at Greenville Public Library for over twenty years.

Gloria was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, where she was a member of the choir and served on the Church Council. She was also a member of the Greenville Coterie Club and was a past member of the Greenville Hospital Auxiliary. Gloria was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading, knitting, and entertaining endless visitors to her home. Gloria lived life to the fullest. She cherished her home, her church, and the town she lived in, surrounded by the many dear friends she made along the way. However, her beloved family was the true center of her world.

Survivors include her three daughters; Paula Cahill (Paul) of Doylestown, PA, Stephanie Mitchell (Bill) of Bourbonnais, IL and Carey Blair (Bruce) of Olmstead Twp., OH, a son; Stephen Spargo (Donna) of Naples, FL, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents.
