Irma M. Knaus, age 98, of Greenville, passed away Saturday evening, March 23, 2024 at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community, Greenville. She was born in Greenville on August 8, 1925 to Martin and Josephine (Zigo) Jamrich.
Irma attended St. Michael High School and had been employed as a presser at Greenville Dry Cleaners, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, where she was active with the Altar Rosary Society. Irma was a devoted and loving wife and mother to her family. She was an amazing cook, best known for her Slovak cooking and Kolache’, and always had a delicious meal on the table. Irma also enjoyed walking and bicycle riding.
On May 7, 1949 she married Frank V. Knaus, who passed away on September 24, 2010. Irma is survived by her daughter, Bridget Kerr (Paul) of Jackson, GA; a son, Frank Knaus (Cheryl) of Marietta, OH; 4 grandchildren, Daniel Knaus (Robyn) of Marietta, OH, Dustin Knaus (Brandi) of Peyton, CO, Bryan Kerr of Savannah, GA, Brittany Stone (Tyler) of Jackson, GA and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Mildred Mickshaw and Theresa Diefenderfer.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with your family and enjoy a nice meal at a restaurant and remember Irma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
