James John Currie, 81, of Rosedale Avenue, Greenville, passed away July 11, 2021, following an extended illness of congestive heart failure.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, May 23, 1940, to James and Lois (Muth) Currie, he was a 1959 graduate of Eastlake North High School in Eastlake, Ohio, and later earned an associate degree from Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. He met the love of his life, Janet Jarmusch, when he was 15 years old and they were married May 18, 1963. She passed away September 27, 2002.

He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962 and was stationed in Fort Hood, TX. He was formerly on the Board of Directors for the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce and served as Eucharistic minister for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville. As a Mason, he was a member of F&AM Eureka Lodge #290 and was also a member of B.P.O.E. #145.

He and his family moved to the Greenville area in 1982, and shortly thereafter, he began his career with Jamestown Paint Company (now Jamestown Coating Technology) as the Director of Purchasing retiring in 2002. Prior to that he worked at Parker Hannifin and Cardinal Home Products in Cleveland, Ohio, and Tel-O-Post in Linesville, PA.

He is survived by one son, Scott Currie and his wife, Jennifer, of Greenville; one daughter, Colleen Taylor and her husband, Scott, of Greenville; one sister, Jeannie Pitrone and her husband, Mac, of Green Mountain Falls, CO, and their daughter, his god-daughter, Mollie Pitrone and her husband Jeremy Dennis; one granddaughter, Brooklyn Taylor of Cresson, PA; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He enjoyed going to camp in Elk County, PA, with his son and especially loved his granddaughter, Brooklyn, dearly and loved watching her basketball games whether she was playing or coaching. He always had a joke or a story and will be missed by all who knew him.
