James R. Durney, age 85, of Adamsville passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 7, 2021 in the ER of UPMC Greenville.
He was born in Adamsville, PA on May 24, 1936 a son of Walter K. and Gertrude V. (Splitstone) Durney. He was a 1954 graduate of Jamestown High School and received a certificate for Inspection Mechanic from New Castle School of Trades.
On October 19, 1979, Jim married the former Betty Young, she survives. He was previously employed as a foreman at Trinity Industries and Hodge Foundry. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Greenville and Pumphouse #45, Hartstown.
In addition to his wife of 42 years; he is survived by a daughter, Gayle Pack of Adamsville; two sisters, Pat Reiter and her husband Ron of Jamestown and Carol Roshala of Sharpsville; a cousin, Ron Splitstone who was like a brother to Jim; three special great great nephews that called him buddy, Jacob Shaffer, Nicholas Rowalt, and Quentin Steider; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bill Durney and Fred Durney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adamsville Presbyterian Church, 3979 Main St., Adamsville, PA 16110 or Youth Hunting Education Challenge, 1956 Mercer-Grove City Rd., Mercer, PA 16137.
