James Ross

James A. Ross, age 85, of Donation Road, Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Monday morning, November 13, 2023 of a broken heart. He was born in Greenville on May 21, 1938 to Harriett E. (Spano) Ross.

Jim was a 1955 graduate of Penn High School and served his country in the United States Army 8th Division from 1956-1959 stationed mostly in Germany. Once he returned home, he was a longtime employee of Greenville Tube Corp and ended his career as a Meter Reader with Penn Power. He was a member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Greenville, the Greenville Family Moose Center #276 and B.P.O.E. #145. Jim truly loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren, golfing, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the twenty years of spending the month of March in Florida with family and friends.

On October 12, 1957 he married the former Judy A. Greenfield, she passed away November 11, 2023. He is survived by a son, Jon Ross and his wife Patty of Greenville, a daughter, Jeri Barum and her husband John of Pittsburgh, nine grandchildren; Troy (Lynnette) Taylor, Molly (Garett) Rowe, Nicholas Taylor, Jimmy Ross, Jared Ross, Laura (Dave) Weatherholt, Ryan (Meghan) Braum, Alyssa (Alan) Adelman, Taylor (Cameron) Kockler, and 8 great-grandchildren; Brynn Ross, Jovie, Asher and Annelise ‘Peanut” Rowe, Cameron, Tyler, Zac and Maxilynn Weatherholt. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and a sister; Patricia Sherbondy.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville. Inurnment will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Senior Living Community, 339 E. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.
