Rev. Jeff Landfried, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating

Jay E. Leffler, age 65, of Kremis Rd. Greenville, passed away April 2, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. Born on September 8, 1957 to the late John and Shirley (Mushrush) Leffler of Greenville, he was a 1975 graduate of Reynolds High School, and a 1979 graduate of Rosedale Technical Institute in automotive and diesel mechanics.

He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Harbert, in 1980.   Jay was employed at Yourga trucking in Wheatland for nearly 43 years. Jay was known by his family and friends as a hard-worker who loved animals, farming, the outdoors; and as someone always willing to help others and who could fix nearly anything.  A favorite pastime was fishing on Lake Erie.  But most of all, he was very devoted to his family.

In his younger years, Jay helped coach his children’s Commodore Perry T-ball and minor league baseball teams, was an assistant cub scout leader for Pack 78 and boy scout merit badge counselor for Troop 78 of Hadley. Jay was a member of Clarks Mills Methodist Church and was previously a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville and Jerusalem Church, serving on the Consistory, and Buildings and Grounds committee.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, and their children, John “J.J.” (Kristyn), Matthew, and Emily Bushee (Nate Semovoski);  grandchildren, Jackson and Alexandra Leffler, and Brinley Bushee; siblings Bruce (Nicky) Leffler, and Mary Kay Hamilton; mother-in-law Marie Harbert;  sisters-in-law Bonnie (Harold) Beahm and Beth (Merle) Todd; along with beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Art Harbert.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
