John S. Ceremuga, age 86, of Jamestown passed away Tuesday evening, August 15, 2023 in UPMC Hamot, Erie from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born in Greenville on June 25, 1937 a son of John G. and Agnes (Uhrin) Ceremuga.
He was a 1955 graduate of St. Michael's High School and served his country in the United States Army at Ft. Sam Houston in Texas where he trained as a medic. On June 11, 1966, John Married the former Elizabeth “Betsy” McElhinny, she survives. John spent most of his working years at Westinghouse in Reynolds and then worked at R.D. Werner CO., retiring in 1998.
He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Parish, and was a member of the choir and a lector for many years at St. Margaret Mission, Jamestown. John was an avid sports fan and was most enthusiastic about local teams and athletes, he loved going with his brother-in-law Larry Addison to football and basketball games as long as he was able.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John (Theresa) Ceremuga of Hartstown, Nicholas (and his friend Gaylene Baker) Ceremuga of Jamestown; two sisters, Cil Ceremuga of N. Canton, OH, and Mary Jane (Joseph) Perrotti of Massillon, OH; three brothers, Paul (Nancy) Ceremuga of South Carolina, Joseph (Beth) Ceremuga of Ashtabula, OH, and Michael Ceremuga of Greenville; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Ceremuga of Poland, OH and Sandra Ceremuga of Hermitage; four grandchildren, Jessica (Drew) Somerville of South Carolina, Stephen (Maria) Ceremuga of Greenville, Madelyn Ceremuga of Conneaut Lake, and Brevyn Ceremuga of Hartstown; step-grandson, Brian (Breanna) Hooks of Greenville and their four boys, Braxton, Brycen, Bowie, and Blake; a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Kate Ceremuga of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers George Ceremuga and Edward Ceremuga.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00am in St. Margaret Mission, 701 Denver St., Jamestown with Rev. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of St. Margaret Mission as celebrant. Inurnment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where Jamestown Veteran's Honor Guard will render military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's School, 85 N. High St., Greenville, Pa 16125. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.
