John J. “JJ” Davis, age 81, of Clarksville St., Greenville passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Sunday afternoon, December 22, 2024.
He was born November 30, 1943 in Greenville to George C. and Daisy Mae (Hunt) Davis, Sr. JJ attended Reynolds High School and retired as a carman from the Bessemer & Lake Erie R. R., having missed only one day of work in 42 years.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, cutting grass, walking downtown, and sitting on his front porch and waving at every car that went by and honked.
On June 8, 1963, JJ married his wife of over 61 years, the former Linda L. Seidel; she survives at home.
In addition to his wife, JJ is survived by four children: Daisy (Dick) Leonard of Volant, Mary (Lenny) White, George Davis, and Julie Hunt, all of Greenville; a sister, Doris Perschka of Vienna, OH; ten grandchildren: Jennifer Grace (Jimmy Chambers), Christopher (Tracey) White, Bradley Boylan, Michelle White, Kayla Davis (Josh Bowman), James Boylan, Mikel McAfoose, Kelsey Scott (Craig Trumbull), Sabrina Stallsmith, and John Stallsmith; 19 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, AltaMae Huffman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Betty Johnston and Mary Simpson; and six brothers: Fred Davis, Albert Davis, George Davis, Don Davis, Bill Davis, and Joe Davis.
Services:
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, 12/30/24, in Crossroads Christian Fellowship, 805 Vernon Rd. Greenville with Rev. Daniel Jaussen officiating. Family and friends will be received in the church on 12/30/24 from 12 PM until time of service. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.
