John H. Ferguson

John H. Ferguson, age 81, of Wasser Bridge Rd., Hempfield Twp, Greenville passed away Saturday evening, December 14, 2024, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

He was born August 11, 1943 in Greenville to John E. and Mary Louise (Eich) Ferguson. He was a 1963 graduate of Greenville High School. John retired as a truck driver from Penn-Tech in 2007 after 10 years of employment and previously had been employed as a truck driver for Werner Co. for more than 30 years. He was extremely proud of his professional driving career and had received numerous recognitions and accolades.

John was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville and enjoyed volunteering with the Good Shepherd Center. An outdoorsman, he loved hunting, camping, trips to his camp in Sigel, PA, and most of all, spending time with his family.

On April 24, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene N. Barnett; she survives.

John also is survived by two daughters: Lynette D. Watkins of San Francisco, CA and Tammy J. (James) Despoy of Wooster, OH; a son, Eric J. (Molly) Ferguson of Sharpsville; a sister, Sherry (William) Moyer of Sache, TX; a brother, C. Edward Ferguson, of Detroit, MI; and eight grandchildren: Brittany Eckstrom, Nicholas Despoy, Abigail Despoy, Madison Watkins, Hunter Ferguson, Lindsey Despoy, Haley Watkins, and Colten Watkins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services:

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, 12/23/24, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 Trinity Place Greenville, with Rev. Brenda Martin, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received from 1-4 PM on Sunday, 12/22/24, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Burial with Committal Prayers will be in Stevenson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions are made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
