John R. Potase, Sr., age 78, of W. Jamestown Rd., Jamestown passed away Tuesday morning December 14, 2021 in UPMC Hamot, Erie.

He was born in Greenville on March 15, 1943 a son of Joseph and Treva (Tate) Potase. He served his country in the United States Army from 1962-1966 stationed in Germany. On March 4, 1967 John married the former Sandra Miller, she survives. He was previously employed at Greenville Steel Car/ Trinity Industries as a Millwright, welder for 30 years, John was a lifelong farmer and also a truck driver. He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, American Veteran's, and Jamestown VFW. John enjoyed hunting, spending time with his grandchildren and hanging out with his friend Paul Iliev. John was a jack of all trades, and if he couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed.

In addition to his wife of 54 years he is survived by three children Cynthia M. Potase- Saulsbery and her husband Kenneth of Adamsville, Joseph J. Potase, Sr. and his wife Jennifer of Duncannon, PA, John R. Potase, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Greenville; a sister, Janet Nodler and her husband Robert of Jamestown; nine grandchildren, Joseph J. Potase Jr. and his wife Jaime, Joshua Potase, Gabrielle Saulsbery, Jacob Saulsbery, Johnathon Potase, Trinity Potase, Justus Saulsbery, Jason Potase, and Hartley Potase; and one great grandson, Joseph J. Potase III; many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James J. Potase, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AMVETS Post # 322, P.O. Box 464, Jamestown, PA 16134.
