Joseph Heini

Joseph A. Heini, age 90, of S. Summit Rd., West Salem Twp., Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, August 31, 2024, in his residence.

He was born on November 15,1933 in Transfer to Michael Heini and Theresa (Guster) Heini-Jergler. Joseph was a 1952 graduate of Hickory High School and worked at Valley Mold and later for the Erie Railroad during his senior year. A Korean War veteran, he served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 at Fort Bragg, NC and later at Ft. Jackson, NC, serving in the Army Reserves as a Corporal in the 82nd Airborne Division for six additional years. 

Joseph graduated from New Castle School of Trades with a certification in Interior Electrical Wiring and Estimating. He worked as a General Foreman at Wheatland Tube, Farrell, retiring after 46.5 years of service. He also served as a West Salem Twp. Police Officer from 1974-1976 and as a firefighter with the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. 

Joseph enjoyed hunting in Elk County, fishing, and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. 

Left behind to cherish Joseph’s memory are two daughters: Jody (Bill) Arbanas and Gaye (John) Feydo; grandchildren: Renee (Mark) Bateman, Nikki (Dylan) Brenneman, Danielle (Craig) Ward, and Rex Cooper; and great-grandchildren: Charlotte and Belle Bateman and Jayden and Kendall Ward. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael Heini; and sisters, Bertha Heini and Eva Heini.

Joseph’s family wishes to give special thanks to his caregiver Christine Lawrence. 

Services:

A private funeral service will be held in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville with Rev. Drew Bell, Pastor of New Virginia United Methodist Church, Hermitage officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service by Greenville VFW Honor Guard Post 3374. Joseph will be laid to rest beside his partner Betty Jane Wilhelm in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
