Karen L. Mowry, 80, of Greenville, PA passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, peacefully in her home with her family by her side. She was a graduate of Greenville High School, a member of the First Baptist Church all of her life, served as a Deacon, and served her community as a Registered Nurse. On November 22, 1963, she married her late husband and love of her life, Duff L. Mowry of 45 years.
Karen was born on October 3, 1942 to Raymond and Jillian (Lawther) Lauffer. She has two loving daughters, Rhonda Gohering (Dan Gohering), Jodi Snyder (Brad Snyder). Karen had one grandson Dennis Carter, 32 of North Carolina. She was the oldest of three sisters, Nancy Gilbert of South Carolina, Darcy Kerr, of Arizona, Monica Powell of Pennsylvania. She has a total of six nephews, and two nieces.
Karen enjoyed serving her church, singing in the church choir, serving her community members, cooking, spending time with her two cats Abbey and Tabbey, tending to her landscape around her house, and spending quality time with her family from near in far.
She is proceeded in death by both her parents, and husband. The family of Karen would like to send a special thank you to Getiva Hospice of New Castle for their compassionate and caring staff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 60 Shenango St., Greenville, PA 16125 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
