Keith R. Hittle, age 79, of Woodshire Road, Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Monday morning, September 25, 2023, in the ER of Atrium Health Medical Center, Charlotte, NC. He was born in Greenville on January 8, 1944, to Glenn C. and Mildred I. (Stainbrook) Hittle.
Keith was a 1961 graduate of Greenville High School and in 1973 he received his associate degree in applied business from Youngstown State University. He was hired as an estimator out of high school by the Greenville Steel Car, where he was employed for 25 years in multiple capacities ending as president. Keith then formed a partnership with Dan Wooldridge to create Potomac Railway Supply, which they operated together for over 10 years, before starting his own company KRH Railway Supply which he operated for the past 20 years.
Keith was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Greenville, where he had served as a treasurer and worship leader. He was a life member of Greenville B.P.O.E. #145, where he held various leadership positions, had served as a Trustee since 2006 and had helped with the Friday morning bowling for Gateway students over the past 40 years. Keith had served as the Chairman of the Hempfield Twp. Municipal Authority since 1988. He was a high school wrestling referee in the 1960’s and had also coached Junior Olympic Wrestling and Little League.
Most recently, he had volunteered with the Backpack Lunch Program for Greenville Area School District. Keith enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling, rooting for Cleveland sports and most of all, supporting his four grandsons in all their endeavors.
On March 31, 1972, he married the former Sandra McLaughlin, she survives at home. Also surviving are his brothers, Gary Hittle and wife Connie and Jack Hittle all of Greenville, son in law Gene Cianci of Greenville and grandsons, Gavin Cianci (Katie), Nolan Cianci (Brittney), Owen Cianci and Evan Cianci. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pamela Cianci, an infant son, Richard Scott Hittle and a brother, Chuck Hittle.
