Kenneth F. Nye, 95, of 37 Quartermile Road, Greenville, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at St. Paul’s Villas, Greenville. He was born in McKean, Pa on June 5, 1928, to the late P. Clair Nye and Mildred Agnes (Hutchison) Nye. He was one of 7 children.

He was a 1947 graduate of the former Albion High School. He was married to Gladys L. (Tucker) Nye on December 30, 1947, at the Methodist Church in Albion. They were married 70 years prior to her death in December 2018. He was employed at General Electric for a short time in Erie County and for 39 years at the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad; served as a high school football official and worked part-time at Wasser’s Men’s Wear. He and his wife also owned Nye’s Children’s Fashions in Greenville for five years.

Ken was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Greenville where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He also sang in the choir at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda, Florida where he and his wife resided during the winter months. He sang with the Burnt Store Colony chorale in Florida.

His love for singing began when he was a child where he first sang in church. In his 20’s he was a member of the Par Four Barbershop Quartet for a short time in Erie County. He sang in the Methodist Church choir while living in Albion.
Ken was a member of the Lion’s Club, Masonic Lodge Eureka 290, and a life member of the Greenville Elk’s Club. A past member of the Greenville Country Club and Zem Zem Shrine Club.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed attending his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s activities. Ken began painting with watercolors later in life. He was generous in sharing his paintings with his family members. He enjoyed reading westerns, crossword puzzles, and staying in contact with his friends he made in Florida. Ken often had a project going. He attended the Men’s Wednesday morning breakfast, the Men’s monthly Saturday morning breakfasts, and the Greenville Senior Center. He grew in his faith and knowledge by attending (via Zoom) the Tuesday afternoon Bible Study.

He is survived by one daughter, Jane L. Miller and her husband, Jim of Greenville, a son, Jonathan, and his husband Ennis Smith of New York City, as well as three Grandchildren-- Keith Miller and his wife Lori, Pittsburgh; Benjamin Miller, Greenville; Kelly Minner, and her husband Matt, of Wexford, along with three great grandchildren--Maia Miller, and Henry and Rachel Minner. Other survivors include Sister-in-law Dorothy Wilkins and her husband Wayne, Fairview, and many nieces and nephews and friends throughout the nation.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, James K. Nye, and Jeffrey C. Nye; his sisters, Lillian Young, Jane Rose, Josephine Allman, Adelaide Boyko, Nancy Simpson, and brother, Lewis Nye.
