Lawrence E. Taylor, age 80, of Aspen Way, Jamestown, passed away peacefully Friday June 21, 2024, in UPMC Hamot. He was born in Albion, PA on January 10, 1944, to Glenn and Lydia (Snyder) Taylor.
Lawrence was a 1962 graduate of Northwestern High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965- 1967. He completed a four-year machinist apprenticeship with Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sharon, and he retired in 2000 as a supervisor in the machine shop of the former R.D. Werner Company in Greenville, where he had been employed for 29 years. Lawrence was a life member of the Jamestown V.F.W. Post #5424 and had recently become active at the Greenville Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, camping, reading, trips to the casino and most of all, spending time with his family.
On June 24, 1967, he married the former Kathy D. Pollock she survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Lynn M. Scovil and her husband Glenn of Jamestown; two sons, Jeffrey S. Taylor of Jamestown and Chad M. Taylor and his wife Dayna of Diamondhead, MS; a sister Janice Payne of West Springfield, PA and five grandchildren, Nicholas Scovil, Mason Scovil, Seth Taylor, Lauren Taylor, and Azlyn Salas; two sisters-in-law, Madolyn Taylor and Joann Taylor and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Per Lawrence’s request, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville Senior Center; 45 Alan Ave., Greenville, PA 16125. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.
