For those interested in attending the funeral and/or visiting
hours, it was her wish that no bouquets be sent but that instead
each person bring one rose to be laid upon her casket.
Lucille “Lucy” M. (née Shacklock) Hawkins-Stafford, aged 79 years old, died quietly in her sleep on December 25, 2021, at 7:00 am at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland. She was born the eldest daughter of Arthur J. Shacklock and Jennie (née Hoovler) on August 23, 1942, in Greenville, Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Stafford, of Transfer, Pennsylvania, her son Michael, her sister Joan Teresa, and both her parents.
She is survived by five children. Ephraim Albert, age 59, of Lakewood, California. He is married to Susan (née Werner) and has one stepdaughter, Alissa Hutchinson, and two step grandchildren, Aliya, age 6, and Logan, age 4. Zachary Paul, age 58, of Fredonia, Pennsylvania married to Ann (née Taylor) and their daughter, Elizabeth Hawkins, age 29, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her husband, Ian Hunt. Marie Lucille, age 57, of Westminster, Maryland. Tobias Joseph, age 56, of Hinsdale, New York, married to Ann (née Seitz) and their three children; Nathan, age 27, of Minot, North Dakota, married to Britt (née Kantack) and two stepchildren, Jude, age 13, and Bryden, age 10. Brayden, age 25, of New York City, and Tae’Lyn, age 18, of Hinsdale, New York. Benjamin Issac, age 54, of Salamanca, New York married to Jennifer (née Whitcher) and their three children, Elijah, age 19, Liam, 15, and Jelena, age 13. She is also survived by eight siblings and their spouses, multiple nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
She attended Commodore Perry High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Thiel College in 1979 and a master’s degree in social work in 1990 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked tirelessly on behalf of others as a mental health therapist and a licensed social worker. She retired from the Community Counseling Center in 2012 after more than 20 years of service.
She was funny and kind-hearted, known to take in and help anyone in néed. She touched many peoples lives in and out of her profession. She was always ready with a hot cup of coffee and a listening ear. In retirement, she enjoyed continuing to learn, reading, helping others get back on their feet, and spending time with her furry companion, Merle.
