Martha C. Kather, age 89, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2023 in St. Paul's Senior Living Community. She was born in Greenville on June 30, 1934 a daughter of Argil and Ruth (Turner) Romine. Martha was a 1952 graduate of Penn High School and on May 2, 1953 she married Melvin Dale Kather, he passed away July 5, 2000.

Martha was employed as a teller at Greenville Savings Bank for over 25 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Greenville, where she sang in the choir and served as the treasurer for many years. In addition, she was also a member of Eastern Star. Martha enjoyed quilting, knitting, and traveling.

She is survived by two daughters, Darcy Tucci of Raleigh, NC, Marnie Marini and her husband Paul of Greenville; a son Todd A. Kather and his wife Jennie of Greenville; five grandchildren; Kasey Stein (Dave), Eric Weaver (Carrie), Nicholas Weaver, Nicholas Marini (Kelsey) and Angela McKelvey (Kayla) and five great grandchildren; Vivian Stein, Adam Stein, Lily Stein, Kellen Weaver and Conley Marini. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son; Dennis D. Kather.
