Mary Jane “Jennie” Reinhart, age 101, a resident of St. Paul’s Senior Living Community and formerly of 508 Shenango Dr., Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, August 26, 2023.
She was born in Volant, PA on September 9, 1921 to Marco and Nicolina (Negri) Emmanuele. She moved to Greenville, PA where her family owned and operated a grocery store. Jennie was a graduate of St. Michael High School in 1939. She was recognized at the St. Michael School Reunion on July 30, 2022, a centenarian of the class of 1939, when the alumni dedicated the program to her and a fellow centenarian classmate.
On May 2, 1940 she married Earl A. Reinhart at St. Michael Church and went on to raise four children. After her children were raised, she worked part time at the Greenville Medical Center getting patients records ready for the Doctors for the next day. Jennie was devoted to her faith and was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church since moving to Greenville in her early years. She enjoyed shopping, watching ice skating, game shows such as The Price is Right and the Fox News channel. Jennie enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially her time sitting on the balcony at St. Paul’s with her late son, Jim, just watching the outdoor activity. She also enjoyed going to the Casino with her daughter, Judy. Jennie’s sense of humor and compassion for others flowed through all her pursuits.
In addition to her grandchildren, she was referred to as Grandma to the nursing staff at St. Paul’s who loved her. She cherished spending time with family during the holidays and would prepare her famous lasagna, wedding soup, as well as other Italian dishes. Jennie is survived by her daughter; Judith (Judy) Leskovac of Greenville and a son; Daniel Reinhart of Jamestown. She will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law; Deborah (James) Reinhart, eight grandchildren; (Michelle, Michael, Monica, Joshua, Jason, Aaron, Renee and Danielle) seven great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons; Earl J. Reinhart and James E. Reinhart, three brothers; (Dan, Ralph and Victor), seven sisters; (Carrie, Anna, Leary, Mary, Angie, Millie and Ellen) and a son-in-law; Michael Leskovac.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
