Michael D. Allen of Greenville, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 20, 2025 at UPMC Jameson in New Castle, PA after a period of failing health. He was 75.

Mike was born on November 7, 1949 in Meadville, PA to Victor and Loretta (Mathlage) Allen, and raised in Conneautville, PA.

He was a 1968 graduate of Conneaut Valley High School, and served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973. Mike was based at Beale Air Force Base near Marysville, CA, and also spent six months in Okinawa.

On September 18, 1982, he married Joyce Elaine Bunton in Greenville. She survives.

Mike spent his whole career as an overhead crane operator. He was employed for many years at the former Steel Car, and later Trinity Industries. Upon its closure, he worked at the former Duferco steel plant in Farrell, PA, retiring in 2013.

Mike enjoyed all things outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many years at Pymatuning. Without any formal training, he was a gifted handyman who was able to fix or remodel anything around the house. Mike had an artistic talent with painting and drawing. He also enjoyed owning and working on older cars in his younger years. He liked maintaining his lawn and landscaping, and feeding the local wildlife. He was a dog lover who owned many throughout his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Trina Noles of Tennessee, two sons, Michael J. Allen of Greenville, and Jeffrey Allen of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Marie) Allen of Florida, a sister, Melody (Roger) Abbott of Conneautville; a sister-in-law, Jean Allen of Conneautville; and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dale Allen.

Services:

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, 3/26/25, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, with Fr. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of the Church, as Celebrant. Greenville VFW Post #3374 Honor Guard will render Military Honors at the conclusion of the Mass. Family and friends will be received in The Gathering Space of the Church on Wednesday, 3/26/25, from 11:00 AM until time of Mass. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium of St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
