Michael J. Suich, age 87, of Williamson Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville passed away Sunday morning, January 5, 2025, in St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.
He was born in Pittsburgh on May 22, 1937 to Michael and Elizabeth (Kitchen) Suich. Mike was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School and had served in the U. S. Army from 1960 - 1966. He retired following 30 years of employment as the Mercer County Maintenance Supervisor for the PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Mike was a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers and served as the group’s national president from 1988-1989.
He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, and B. P. O. E. #145. Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed traveling, 20 years of wintering in Sarasota, FL, and spending time with his family.
On September 7, 1963, he married the former Patricia A. Kelly; she survives.
Also surviving are four children: Mark (Virginia) Suich of Fayetteville, NC, Karen (James) O’Brey of Highland Village, TX, Rhonda (David) Shareef of Woodstock, GA, and Kevin Suich of Greenville, SC; a brother, Richard (Sandy) Suich of Greenville; a sister Laverna (John) Burt of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents.
Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM Friday, 1/10/25, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, with Fr. John Miller, Pastor of the Church of Notre Dame, as Celebrant. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the Mass by Greenville VFW Post #3374 Honor Guard. Family and friends will be received on Friday, 1/10/25, from 12:00 – 1:30 PM in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Greenville. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville, PA 16125.
