Rev. Joel DiAngi, Pastor of Christian Assembly Church, officiating

Pamela S. Young, age 68, of Donation Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away suddenly of cardiac arrest on February 1, 2023. She was born in Greenville on December 1, 1954, to Harry and Loretta (Smith) Frantz.

Pam was a graduate of Greenville High School in 1972 and worked at White Cliff Nursing Home after graduation as an LPN and babysat until going to nursing school. On September 20, 1975, she married Dennis Young. She became a Registered Nurse in 1993 after graduating from the Pitt School of Nursing at Jameson. She worked at Fry’s as a bus driver for a brief time and then worked as an RN at Sharon Regional Hospital and Greenville Hospital for many years, and later running the rehab floor. She retired from Greenville Hospital in 2012 but it wasn’t for her, and she went back to work a few months later at Meadville Medical Center as a case manager on a rehab unit. She would also help out and work weekend shifts at White Cliff/The Grove after her retirement.

Pam attended Maysville Community Church and then later Christian Assembly in Greenville, where she loved Pastor Farina and sitting next to her mom and dad. She had a strong faith in Christ and enjoyed attending church on Sunday morning with her boys when she could wrangle them all up. For years she would read the Bible before bed and tell them Bible stories. Pam enjoyed going on Casino trips and playing slots with her husband and traveling to watch him play softball when they were younger. She loved watching her boys play football, basketball and baseball and never missed a game. She also enjoyed movies and discussing them with her boys. Big Fish, Inception, The Matrix, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Christmas Vacation and Marvel movies were a few of her favorites. She would watch Seinfeld with a constant smirk on her face and laugh hysterically at Kramer. Pam enjoyed drinking coffee at all times of the day and a cold Yuengling or two with dinner, gossiping with her sister Darlene for hours at a time, laughing uncontrollably with her dear friend Cheryl Spiegel about work and their boys, listening to all kinds of music and singing in the car, especially to Hall & Oats, Dave Matthews and The Clarks, yearly trips to Cedar Point and Pirate and Indian games with her family, going out to eat at Combine Brothers, Nicolinni’s, Red Lobster and stopping at Hanks, sunbathing on warm days and taking naps on cold days with her sweet girl Ginger were her favorite.

She loved animals, most notably her Cocker Spaniel Ginger, her best boy Zeus, and her handsome boy Gunner who would get his very own meal at dinner. She was an unbelievable cook, and her food will be missed by many. Especially her Thanksgiving dinner, spaghetti and meatballs, breakfast for supper, lasagna, seafood pasta, chicken noodle soup and her famous mashed potatoes. Pam loved her family more than anything in this world and always put her husband and boys before herself. Her true calling came later in life as a grandmother. Pam absolutely loved spending every minute she could with her grandkids and spoiling them with gifts. She was the glue of her family, a true Matriarch and will be so greatly missed by them and all of her friends. Her family truly appreciates all the texts, calls, visits, and kind words from everyone during this difficult time.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three boys; Casey and his wife Shanna of Hermitage, Samuel and his girlfriend Melissa Marchetti of Greenville and Andrew and his wife Lisa of Wadsworth, OH, her grandchildren, Maddison, Gavin, Luke, Molly, Jake, Madi and Haliley, her sister; Darlene Parker and brother Harry Frantz, Jr., all of Greenville; nephews, Joseph and Cole Parker, Curtis, Matthew and Daniel Poppinhouse and Wesley, Abigail and Noah Frantz; ex-daughter-in-law, Michelle Young.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lucinda Poppinhouse.

Memorial contributions may be made to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.
