Patricia Joanne "Pat" Pekala, age 87, formerly of Donation Road, Greenville, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. 

Born August 18, 1937, Pat was the oldest of three children of Helen and Frederick Mazur. She grew up in western Pennsylvania as a sports enthusiast and was head majorette for the New Kensington Firemen’s Band. There were numerous parades during the warm months throughout small towns in Western Pennsylvania in this era and these Firemen’s Bands marched and played at many of them. 

Pat married Richard E. Pekala on April 4, 1959, in St. Mary’s church, and they raised three children together. Pat worked as a receptionist for PPG Industries and as a bank teller for First National Bank. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and loved to dance. Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, and Engelbert Humperdinck were three of her favorite musicians. Pat moved to Tampa, Florida in November 1998 where she met new friends and volunteered as Treasurer for the Westchase Library fundraising and construction project.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband and oldest brother, Fred. She is survived by her children, Rick, Fred, and Monica; a brother Frank; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Services:

A private Funeral Service for family and friends will be held from 10:30 - 11:30 AM on Wed., 1/15/25, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to www.stjude.org or www.hopechildrenshome.org.
