Paul James Bittler, Jr., age 75, of The Colony at St. Paul's Senior Living Communuity, went to his eternal home on Wednesday August 18, 2021 in UPMC Jameson. He was born on November 2, 1945 in Lockport, NY to Paul James and Doris Elizabeth (Roggow) Bittler, Sr. He graduated from Lockport Senior High School and from the University of Buffalo with a degree in computer science in 1968.
His employment included teaching at Bryant and Stratten Business Institute, Buffalo, NY and Computer Learning Centers in Boston, MA, and Long Island, NY. Paul was a life long Lutheran, having been an active member of the congregations where he lived, the last being Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville. Over the years he has served as congregational treasurer, many church councils, different committees and always sang in the choir from childhood until declining health prevented him from singing to God's glory several years ago. His humblest and most rewarding position was serving as Eucharistic Ministry Coordinator at HTLC. After retiring to Greenville from Long Island, Paul sang with the Messiah Community Choir, Bach Society in Grove City, Heritage Day Committee and volunteering at the Good Shepard Food Pantry.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Sarah Bittler and son Paul Bittler, III (Stephanie), granddaughters, Kathleen and Jeanette, all from Long Island; sister Emmajean Bittler, Lockport; three nieces and six nephews and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
