Paul A. Langiotti, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, February 21, 2025 at UPMC Horizon in Greenville. He was 94.
Paul was born on January 7, 1931 in Greenville to Luigi and Maria (D’Ambrosio) Langiotti. He was the youngest of seven siblings.
A lifelong member of St. Michael Parish in Greenville, he graduated from St. Michael High School in 1948. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954.
Paul graduated from Youngstown State University in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He went on to earn his certificate in metallurgy. Paul had a number of interesting jobs before settling at the former RMI Company in Niles, Ohio. He retired from RMI as Superintendent of Wrought Products after approximately 28 years of service.
In his earlier years, he was a pitcher for his adult fast-pitch softball team. He also served as a wrestling and basketball referee for local high schools for many years.
Paul was a member of several clubs in the Greenville area including the Italian Home Club where he served as president from 2004-2006, and again in 2014. He also served as treasurer for a period of time. In addition, he was a longtime member of the Greenville Elks Club, and was treasurer of the St. Michael School 40 Club fundraiser for several years.
Paul enjoyed a very long and prosperous retirement. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Pine Hill, as well as several other courses in the area. He spent many years filing taxes for senior citizens through the AARP volunteer program. Paul highly enjoyed playing euchre with his brother Fonzy and card club members at the Greenville Senior Center and various other local establishments. Paul’s crafting of balloon animals at the family reunions and other special events were always very popular with the children. He was a technology enthusiast who enjoyed his computer time.
He is survived by his brother, Alphonse (Fonzy) Langiotti of Greenville, his sister, Sister Edith Langiotti, RSM of Erie, PA, 15 nephews and nieces including Linda (Larry) Kerr of Edinboro, PA, Carole Langiotti of Greenville, Sandy Dutko of Hermitage, Laurie (Marc) Zinger of North Kingsville, OH, Don (Maria) Bunton of Mt. Vernon, OH, Richard Bunton of Redmond, WA, Joyce (Mike) Allen of Greenville, Nancy (Steve) Schoenfeld of Canfield, OH, Ed (Pat) Langiotti of Melbourne, FL, Joanne (Tony) DiSalvo of Greenville, Marianne (Jim) Baskin of Port Orange, FL, Steve (Tracy) Langiotti of Ormond Beach, FL, Tom (Ed) Kepler of Hadley, Pam (Mike) Phebus of Trapp, MD and Chris (Deanne Hope) Langiotti of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, as well as numerous cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Theresa Langiotti and Ann (Joseph) Bunton, brothers, Joseph (Stella) Langiotti, William (Shirley) Langiotti, and sister-in-law, Norma Langiotti; two nephews, Larry Bunton and Bradley Kepler; and grandniece, Jennifer Kerr.
Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, 2/25/25, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville with Fr. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of the Church, as Celebrant. Greenville VFW Post #3374 Honor Guard will render Military Honors at the conclusion of the Mass. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, 2/25/25, in The Gathering Space of the Church from 10:30 AM until time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville, PA 16125, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
