Paul Massie

Paul Robert Massie 96, passed away on Thursday July 13, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born February 26, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of Arthur W. Massie and Mathilda (Kuhns) Massie.

Paul was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army Air Force. Using the G.I. Bill he attended Thiel College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He received a Master Ed. Degree from the University of Pittsburgh and during a sabbatical year earned a Master of Arts degree from Ohio University.  Paul was a teacher of Economics, Social studies, and Driver training at Greenville High School for 32 years. Family, friends and former students will remember him with love and respect.  As a young man Paul built his own house where he has lived for 67 years.

Before and during retirement years, Paul and his family traveled with tent trailers, van or motor home, with multiple trips to parks with pools or ocean beaches where Paul would swim for 1 mile.  He also drove hundreds of miles in a lifetime across many states ready with enthusiasm to go on sightseeing vacations, family reunions and snowbird escapes to Florida.

Married for 70 years, Mr. Massie is survived by his wife Margreta, son Paul and wife Marianne Massie, son James and wife Sharon Massie, grandchildren Nathan and wife Melanie Massie, Michele Cornwell and great granddaughter Katie Cornwell, sister-in-law Alma Kincaid and brother-in-law Alan Strom.  He is also survived by beloved nieces and nephews; Mark and wife Connie Massie, Nancy and husband Steve Cockley, Carol and husband Joe Givan, Susan and husband Dean Smith, Linda Finney, Richard Gregory, Brad and wife Lynell Kincaid, Rod and wife Darla Kincaid and Leigh and husband Mark Tanquist.

Proceeded in death by his parents, son Arthur, nephew David Massie M.D., sister-in-law Anne B. Massie, brother-in-law Ron Kincaid, and a brother who was his best friend, Walter A Massie M.D.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
