Robert J. "Red" Denmark

Robert J. “Red” Denmark, age 91, of Plymouth Lane, S. Shenango Twp., Westford, passed away Saturday evening, February 1, 2025, in Embassy of Park Avenue, Meadville. 

He was born August 3, 1933 in Erie to George and Frances (Dumars) Denmark. Red graduated from McDowell High School and then served his country in the U. S. Army and U. S. Coast Guard. 

In the 1950s, he lived in Alaska for several years and was a hunting guide. In the 1960s, Red moved to the Pymatuning Lake Area. For 40 years, he was a contractor and developer. Red formed the Colonial Estates Development that encompasses over 500 acres and includes a 16-acre lake. He also operated the Espyville Boat Launch and had a mobile home business. Red spent many winters in Ft. Pierce, FL as a commercial fisherman.

In the 1990s, he and his wife raised exotic waterfowl. Due to his love of fishing, Red earned the title of “The Legend of Pymatuning.” He could catch fish even when they weren’t biting. Red even developed a fishing jig that he demonstrated at many sportsmen’s shows. He also was an avid hunter.

Red is survived by his wife, the former Linda C. Bennett of Westford; a son, Eric Denmark of Westford; a daughter, Fawn (Don) Williams of Perry, FL; a stepson, Chris Lamont, of Jamestown; a brother, Cy Denmark, of Port Allegany; two granddaughters, Abby Kuilman and Madeline Frampton; four step-grandsons: Shane Lamont of Westford, Cade Lamont and Trey Lamont, both of Jamestown, and Shaye Lamont of Butler; three great-granddaughters: Mabel, Presly, and Taelynn; and a great-grandson, Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Denmark; and his son, Robbie.

Services: 

Cremation was chosen, and a Memorial Service will be held at the family’s convenience in the spring or summer. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. Meadville, PA 16335.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St. Jamestown.
