Robert G. “Bob” Volpe, age 86, of Gruber Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, October 10, 2024 in his residence.
He was born September 28, 1938 in Greenville to Michael and Mary Jane (DiNicola) Volpe. Bob was a 1957 graduate of Penn High School and began his apprenticeship as a meat cutter with the A & P grocery store at age 16 and retired as a department manager from Giant Eagle in 2000 after 45 years of employment, having worked in various stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
In his younger years, Bob was a member and past trustee of Christian Assembly Church, Greenville and later a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Greenville where he assisted with funeral dinners and served on the soup committee. He was active with the Penn High School Class of 1957 and attended a weekly men’s group at Fresh Grounds. Bob loved classic cars and Cub Cadet tractors, enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, and most of all, loved spending time with his family.
On October 4, 1958, he married the former Margaret J. (Peggy) Hawthorne in Calvary United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2016.
Bob is survived by two daughters, Shelly L. (Jeff) Patton and Brenda R. (Jeff) Wallace of Greenville; a sister, Joan Little of Greenville; three grandchildren: Hannah Wallace, Ryan Wallace, and Asher Patton; and three step-grandchildren: Kelly Patton, Kim Moon, and Ryan Patton. Also surviving is his special friend Peg Groover of Hermitage.
In addition to his wife, Bob is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Volpe; and a grandson, Steven V. Wallace.

Services:
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, 10/17/24, at 1 PM in Calvary United Methodist Church, 44 S. Mercer St. Greenville, with Rev. Sally Bell, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received at the Church from 11 AM until time of service on Thursday, 10/17/24. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.
