Ronald K. “Pete” Shreffler, age 90, of Tanner Rd., West Salem Twp., Greenville passed away Thursday morning, October 31, 2024, in his residence.
He was born on September 19, 1934 in Greenville to Richard H. and Clara Mae (Montgomery) Shreffler. Pete graduated from Penn High School in 1953 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1956. He was employed as a carman with the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad for 28 years, retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for Jerome’s Florist, William J’s Emporium, AutoZone, and Lakeland Chrysler Jeep Dodge.
Pete attended Jerusalem Christian Church, Greenville and was a member of the Greenville Railroad Park and a past-member of the Italian Home Club.
He married the former Kathleen Graham on October 28, 1971. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2023.
Pete is survived by three daughters: Melissa (Brian) Dobbs of Noblesville, IN, Nanette (Jeffrey) Peterman of Clarks Mills, and Valerie (Ed) Miller of Greenville; four grandsons: Randy Peterman, Mason Miller, Devin Miller, and Michael Dobbs; and four great-grandchildren: Landon Peterman, Addison Peterman, Colton Peterman, and Brooklyn Peterman.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Lucille Cook, Gertrude Simunich, and Virginia Saylor; a brother, Richard Shreffler; and an infant great-grandson, Gavin Peterman.
Services:
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, 11/9/24 in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville, with Pastor Jerry McCloskey of Jerusalem Christian Church officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service by Greenville VFW Post #3374 Honor Guard. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Saturday, 11/9/24 from 10 AM until time of service. Inurnment will be in Hadley Cemetery.
