Rose M. “Rosie” Gessler, age 94, of Greenville, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2023.
She was born in Sharon, PA on September 4, 1928 to Giuseppe and Marie (Fanelli) Bozzo. Rosie was a graduate of Sharon High School and had been employed as a clerk for twenty years at both Ames and Jamesway in Greenville. Rosie was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, where she active with the church bowling league. In addition to bowling, Rosie enjoyed playing bingo, golfing, rooting for the Pirates, Steelers and Notre Dame, watching her son David play the fiddle at Lago Winery and supporting her grandson Chris, with all his bowling endeavors. She also very much appreciated her longtime friends, Jenny, Pat, Posie and Peggy.
On May 26, 1951, she married Thomas R. Gessler, he passed away on October 13, 2001. She is survived by her daughter; Judi Lysek of Greenville, whom also served as her caretaker, two sons; Thomas D. Gessler and his wife June and David A. Gessler and his wife Patti, all of Greenville, three grandchildren; Chris Lysek, Natalie Higbee and Nicole D’urso, three great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, several siblings and a great-granddaughter; Toni McElhinny.
