Sherry Taylor

d. February 21, 2024

Sherry Jane Taylor, born December 07, 1963, was known by many names, but her favorite one was Mammy. Anyone who truly knew Mammy, truly loved her. They also knew that football season was her season, and that her passion for UGA was unmatched. She was known to say “my body may be here, but my heart is on that field.” But Mammy also loved softball, especially the years that she played, and her beloved teammates.

Everyone knew that Mammy was told that her time would be short, but no one believed it by the way she could outwork, outlast and out-love anyone who dared challenge her. After a 15-year battle with her cardiac illness, on February 21, 2024, she finally received her rest.

Sherry is survived by many loved ones, including both her biological children, Chad Taylor, Tracy Livings, Kendra Nez, Allen Taylor, Janee Bonner, and their children, who were most precious in her heart. In addition, over the span of the past 13 years, Mammy had adopted her bonus family, which included many more beloved grandchildren as well. Truth be told, there are so many that she called family, no matter their relation, or lack thereof, that it would be impossible to list them all, but the absence of her spark will be felt both as deeply as it is wide.

“Death is the mother of beauty. Only the perishable can be beautiful, which is why we are unmoved by artificial flowers.” -Wallace Stevens

As per Sherry’s wishes cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville.
