Timothy I. McElhinny, age 85, of West Drive, Greenville, passed away Tuesday morning, April 4, 2023.
He was born in Pittsburgh on May 14, 1937 to William and Mary (Gruebl) McElhinny. He attended Jamestown High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959. Tim retired in 2003 as a Corrections Officer from S.C.I. Mercer, where he had been employed for seventeen years. He was previously employed as a machine operator for twenty-five years at Van Huffel Tube, Warren, OH. Tim was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a Pittsburgh sports fan.
On September 2, 1961 he married the former Rose E. Frazier, she passed away on February 11, 2017. Tim is survived by his daughter; Susan McElhinny of North East, PA, two sisters; Blanche Hawks of Greenville and Rita Matta of Munhall, PA, a brother; Vincent McElhinny of Erie and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers; Richard McElhinny, Bernard “Pete” McElhinny, Francis McElhinny, Dennis McElhinny and Clement McElhinny and two sisters; Louise Chapco and Sister Christine Marie McElhinny.
