Vera L. Owens, age 91, of Sherbondy Rd., Greene Twp., Greenville passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024 in UPMC Hamot. She was born in Hadley, PA on July 27, 1932 to Paul L. and Eva M. (Palm) Hovis.

Vera attended Penn High School and was a Homemaker. She had been active with Conneaut Lake TOPS and KOPS. Vera enjoyed cooking, card club, and was an avid golfer and bowler for many years.

On November 29, 1952, she married James L. Owens. He passed away January 7, 2024. Vera is survived by her daughter Jody Fortney of Jamestown; a son Keith Owens (BettyAnne) of Hartstown; two grandchildren, Tyson Thurber (Jodi) and Travis Thurber; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Major (Ron) and Marty Fortney (Danielle); and five great-grandchildren, PJ, Sophie, Teddy, Carter, and Brady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Leon Owens, a sister Frances Scott, two brothers, Kenneth Nelson and Ralph Hovis, and a son-in-law, Ronald Fortney.
