Virgil M. Cathcart, age 92, of Main St., W. Fallowfield Twp., Adamsville, passed away Thursday evening, October 21, 2021 in UPMC Shenango Valley.
He was born on April 4, 1929 to Hugh N. and Lillian L. (Johnson) Cathcart. He was employed for over 45 years as a truck driver, retiring from Bristol Trucking and previously driving for Extran Trucking, Warner & Smith Trucking and Otto Suburban. Virgil was a member of Adamsville Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Trustee. He was and avid snowmobiler for many years and had been one of the founding members of the Pymatuning Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. He had also served with the Pennsylvania Auxiliary Police for many years. His hobbies included deer hunting, cutting wood and gardening.
On June 3, 1950 he married the former Barbara L. Bates, she passed away July 31, 2004. Virgil is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Stewart and her husband Mark of Greenville and Carol A. Caffas and her husband John of Meadville; a son, Wayne E. Cathcart and his wife Kathryn of Adamsville; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a granddaughter, Sandra Chere and 3 brothers, Jim, Charlie and Hugh.
