Zebuail "Zeb" Waite

June 20, 1941 — February 18, 2025

Jamestown, PA

Zebuail “Zeb” Waite, age 83, of Jamestown, with his daughter and sisters at his side, passed swiftly at UPMC Hamot early Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025, following a brief illness.

Born to Grover and Alice Mae (Selvage) Waite in Smithmill, PA on June 20, 1941, Zeb grew up primarily in Jamestown, PA. A proud American veteran and reluctant Chinook helicopter passenger, Zeb was a medaled sharpshooter in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Zeb was employed by Greenville Steel Car turned Trinity Industries, in the paint shop, for over 34 years. Following his retirement, he worked another five years as a security guard at Werner Co. In his younger years, Zeb attended Stateline United Methodist Church. He was a Lifetime Member of Jamestown V.F.W. Post #5424, and of the Jamestown Fireman’s Club. An astonishingly accomplished hunter and avid tree-stand napper, Zeb also greatly enjoyed fishing at Pymatuning. When visiting his family in Georgia, Zeb loved to fish with his grandson, and to do just about anything his granddaughter, “the princess”, could talk him into. A family man to his very core, Zeb found some of his greatest joy while playing cards, laughing with his family, and getting spoiled by his “baby” sisters, as well as, spending time being bossed around by his beloved little dog, Tootles.

Zeb is survived by his daughter, Dawn Waite-Fiscus, and her husband Matthew, along with two much-adored grandchildren, Nason and Lauryn LaRue, all of Peachtree City, GA; Dawn’s mother, long-time friend and companion, Melody J. BrownEagle, of Jamestown. Zeb is also survived by his devoted sisters, Ruth Hunt of Farmdale, OH, Dolores McClimans of Greenville, Rose (Randy) Calvin of Jamestown, and Hannah (Rod) Tate of Jamestown, as well as, younger brother, Harold (Jackie) Waite of Conway, AR, and brother-in-law Gary (Gladys) Floch, of Jamestown, and many, many loved nieces and nephews.

Zeb was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, all of whom he cherished beyond measure, Bessie Mae Sherbondy, Jean Ellen Herrick, and Gladys Jane Floch; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Jean) Herrick, Sr. and Robert (Ruth) Hunt, Sr.; a niece, Laura Lee Calvin, and a nephew, John Sherbondy.
